For whom does God exist?

We are often tempted to relegate our spiritual questions to a lesser authority rather than trusting the God within. How did we become so conditioned? Do we not trust God or ourselves? As adults have we failed to allow our faith to mature? Do we believe that God is only to be found in ritual, scriptural writings or persons of religious authority? Why do we so easily discharge the essence of our created and sacred self to others? Are we afraid that God will offer punishment instead of his unconditional love? Do we fear that He will make demands that will take us to places and people we do not wish to visit or embrace? Perhaps we believe that God will send us to hell because we have not obeyed his commandment to love others and ourselves as much as we should have? At times we seem to prefer to hide our created sacredness or the true self God gave us freely.

Religion has failed when it does not direct  us to the God within. Religion has failed when it does not bring us beyond our finite understanding of who He is for all humankind. Religion has failed when it is afraid to let its people go. Religion has failed when it presents us with a distant God based on unbending doctrine and dogma. Religion has failed when it does not encourage its people to ask:

Does God exist beyond our five senses and imagination?

Does God exist beyond the confines of our beliefs?

Does God exist beyond the boundaries of our places of worship?

Does God exist beyond the boundaries of this earth, the stars and universe?

Does God exist beyond our religious creeds, dogmas and doctrine?

Does God exist beyond religious institutions, symbols, and sacred writings?

Does God exist in our prejudices, hatred, fear, worry, pain and suffering?

Does God exist in an unanswered prayer?

Does God exist in our doubts, or disbelief?

Does God exist in all of His ongoing creation?

Does God exist in an earthquake, flood, or other natural tragedy?

Does God exist in the darkest recesses of hell?

Does God exist beyond our physical death?

Does God exist in the deepest ocean trenches or and the highest snowcapped mountains?

Does God exist in the most distant galaxy, a single atom, beyond time and space?

Is there anywhere God does not exist or should we look for Him only within an established and finite field of vision?
